Euro NCAP Reveals Results for 6 New Cars, including First 5 Star Rating for a Fully Electric Vehicle

Euro NCAP has released the second quarterly 2011 test for 6 cars. The mid-size electric hatchback Nissan LEAF is the first of its kind to achieve Euro NCAP 5 star overall rating. The LEAF has a specially designed battery pack below the rear-seat compartment which ensures that the risks of battery damage or high voltage leaking are reduced to zero in car crashes. The third generation C-segment Ford Focus, the Volvo V60 and the two French cars Peugeot 508 and Citroën's DS4 have also achieved the Euro NCAP 5 stars rating. The Lexus CT200h, featuring a rearward-facing child restraint safely in the front passenger seat, is also one of the 5 star-rewarded cars. Available material includes general views and images of car crash tests. Available content also includes Advanced reward videos and images for Ford Active City Stop and Ford Lane Keeping Aid, as well as preparation and tests of the Nissan LEAF, the first electronic vehicle reaching Euro NCAP 5 stars.
